Scrum and Agile – How to do a Daily Standup

Daily standups are meant for developers and the Scrum Master; the Product Owner can be there too, but it’s not necessary. It is even recommended that if the Product Owner is present, s/he shouldn’t interrupt or let others interrupt on her/his behalf, since that make the meeting lose focus.

They should last no more than 15 min, but everyone on the Team has to be an active participant. The idea of a Daily Standup is not to do a status report for the Scrum Master/Product Owner, but a way to do a daily “inspect and adapt” cycle. This means that everyday they communicate to their team members what they’ve worked on since their last Standup and what they expect to do until their next, in order to review if they’re on the right track or if they need to adapt.
