October 15, 2013 – Probably best known for its racy and controversial Superbowl ads and sexy model spokespeople such as Danica Patrick, GoDaddy announced today that it has acquired Media Temple, a higher-end hosting company and domain name registrar.
I have used Media Temple for years and always thought they provided world-class hosting geared specifically for higher-end professionals in the web business. A couple years ago, Media Temple got into the domain name registration business and they did a horrible job. Their back-end dashboard for managing domain names sucks. So, I am glad, in some ways, that GoDaddy will own and control the way Media Temple handles its domain name registration.
However, I hope that the world-class customer service and hosting operations that Media Temple was known for does not degrade and fall off the cliff.
