How to leverage the power of Facebook Friends and Fans

Social media marketing has definitely and officially hit its stride.  If you want to leverage viral word-of-mouth (WOM) marketing and take advantage of the multiplier effect of Facebook friends and the Facebook Fan page then this is what you need to do…

  1. Create a Facebook Fan page for your company, organization, website or project
  2. On the home page of your website, install a Facebook chicklet and direct people to your Fan Page … not your Wall
  3. Install a second Facebook chicklet but code it so that when people click on the chicklet, it encourages people to share a link to your Fan Page on their wall.  Key words … on their wall.  It’s one thing to have people check out your Facebook page, but it’s quite another to encourage people to share a link to your site on their page.
  4. Now, here is the magic exponential multiplier effect of the Facebook Fan Page when leveraged by Facebook Friends…Every time somebody becomes a Fan of your Facebook Page then all of their Friends are notified, when they visit their Facebook page or your wall, that you just became a Fan and they should become a Fan too.  Say that you have a Fan with 650 Facebook Friends, once they become a Fan of your Facebook Page … Boom!, 650 new people have been exposed to your Facebook Page.
