Ellen Degeneres Show: Birdie, Spanish language twitter

¿Qué estás haciendo? Spanish-language Twitter site

Ellen DeGeneres, a cult favorite of stay-at-home moms and the underemployed (and I say that affectionately), mentioned on the air the other day that she was reaching out to the Hispanic community through her new Birddi account.  Turns out that Birddi is a new Twitter for Spanish website.  Turns how there is no affiliation between Birddi and Twitter.  This is Birddi’s About Us page:

Using Google translate (because I can only order beer in Spanish), this is what I’ve been able to make of it:

Birddi is a private initiative, funded by DE-LIO company. Birddi development started in March 2009, the main objective was to develop a system for microblogging Hispanic community. We note that twitter was used sparingly for Spanish speaking users in relation to English-speaking and not feel that the Spanish had its own place on Twitter. We decided to create and deliver growth Birddi microblogging in Spanish, as is happening in the English language. Worldwide, people are still the most important Birddies have access to information immediately as news of what is happening worldwide as well as find out what our friends.
