Aesthetic web browser compatibility, x-browser compatibility

Web standards, best practices

Aesthetic browser compliance means that the website looks “exactly” the same, pixel by pixel, color by color, between web browsers. We will not guarantee this.

Examples below show how different browsers interpret HTML/CSS differently without affecting functionality. on Firefox (FF14) on Internet Explorer (IE9)

As you can see, the functionality of the website is unchanged, it works across both browsers. However, aesthetically, there is a slight difference in the rendering of the gradient background images behind the navigation buttons.

This is “functionally” compatible but not “aesthetically” compatible.
